I'm a linux user and I had this problem. From the comment of guneeyoufix 
in the bugreport 0001089, it seems to be due to the fact that the list 
of "Third party" ("Tiers" in french -- the people with who you exchange 
money -- I'm not sure of the translation) is not in cache. In my case, I 
was abusing the usage of this field and had a list of several hundreds 
of entries. I spent few hours reorganizing my entries, using the 
'remark' field to write specific comments and the "Tiers" field as it 
should be used. My number of entries in this field has fallen to ~100 
and Grisbi is now as fast as it was.
