I tried to install version 0.8.8 from the sources, but some packages were
missing.
After executing
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0
the installation from the sources worked.
Afterwards the error doesn't occur any more in 0.8.8, but still in 0.8.7.2 (what
is in the Ubuntu packages).
So, at the moment it seems to me, that you have to install from the sources to
get it running and wait until the packages sources are updated to 0.8.8 as well.
Installing the libgkt2.0 things together with the Ubuntu sources doesn't work.
