In the description of the QIF format is for account informations (including name) a section with "!Account" requiered (see example below). The QIF import of grisbi does not handle this section (I've checked the sources for QIF-Import). -------------------------------------------------- !Account NJoint Brokerage Account -------------------------------------------------- greetings From baerrach at gmail.com Sat Jan 24 21:21:57 2009 From: baerrach at gmail.com (Barrie Treloar) Date: Sun, 25 Jan 2009 06:51:57 +1030 Subject: [grisbi-user] Specifying account name in QIF import file In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: > Hi, > Description of QIF Format > a) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QIF (general description) > b) http://web.intuit.com/support/quicken/docs/d_qif.html (detailed > description) > > Specifying account name in QIF import file > Well this does not work in grisbi. Cheers I've also found http://web.intuit.com/support/quicken/2002/win/1178.html It doesn't matter that grisbi doesn't support it. I've raised http://grisbi.tuxfamily.org/mantis/view.php?id=460 as importing multiple accounts is impossible to tell which one is which. I speak too soon. If you check the bug.gsb file you sent you will see that the Home Loan transaction is "Debit Card" Visa is "Credit Card" When I expect them to be "transfer". Maybe it doesn't really matter. When I manually select transfer the other account will include the transaction. With this import the category is correct but I get get two transactions instead of one transfer linked to the other account. Mathematically everything is the same - I guess it is just aesthetics. I also had crashes when importing data that has already been imported. (I run a preprocessor against the bank files to categorise the input for me and the cash file I was creating hadn't been updated to include the next month and hence I was importing transactions that had been already imported) From zanthea at web.de Tue Jan 27 15:35:10 2009 From: zanthea at web.de (Anka) Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2009 14:35:10 +0000 (UTC) Subject: [grisbi-user] Future plans? Now I'm wondering if you're planning to create some sort of Tax functionality in the near future. I need to be able to mark private and job-related bookings separately in order use a simple financial program listing ALL transactions but still being able to evaluate private and business transactions separately. Thus I could use Grisbi preparing for tax statements without having to use a double-entry accounting system. I dont do this, and I'm no expert but can't you use categories or budget lines to do this? Then create a report to generate what you want.
