Summary: GTK installer default settings do not work with
Windows Vista Home Premium
Description:
This concerns the installer:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/grisbi/files/grisbi%200.6.0/beta3/Grisbi_0.6.0_b3.exe/download
0.5.9 was installed prior to this installation and it was not uninstalled.
When using GTK installer one needs to change the settings in 'Install DLL files
to' and use <instdir>\lib - otherwise the program does not start.
Additional Information:
Installer works well with default settings when using Windows XP Home Edition.

All the tests I have done before have showed no such problem.
Might be a problem with the PATH variable.
However it seems very strange...
Could you confirm that the problem is the same with the RC1 installer?
Thank you

(This concerns Vista Home Premium only.)
RC1 had the same problem - but now I must say that I am not sure whether this is
a some sort of compatibility problem or what:
I uninstalled all previous Grisbi versions and installed RC1 in the folder
Grisbi. Install failed until I closed all the possible processes I could find
using Process Explorer - even closed explorer.exe*. After that I was able to
install RC1 with the previously mentioned GTK-settings; all other attempts
failed.
Failure here means that when trying to start the program after installation, one
gets prompt saying "The procedure entry point png_set_expand_gray_1_2_4_to_8
could not be located in the dynamic link library libpng12-0.dll."
*I have software called True Launch Bar ( http://www.truelaunchbar.com/ )that is
some way integrated into the explorer.exe and thought it might have something to
do with the issue.

Is a file edited with 0.6.0 RC1 compatible with latest stable release (I guess
it is 0.5.9) ?
I think I need to go back to using it for now if I want to use the software.
Now after restarting Windows I get the error message attached (Unable To Locate
Component.jpg) and Grisbi does not start at all.

Unfortunately, 0.6.0 account files are not backwards compatible with version
0.5.9.
If you have kept a backup copy of your original 0.5.9 account file (as it was
suggested many times, on the website, and on the mailing lists), you can safely
go back to the 0.5.9 version.
If you haven't done so, you will have to fix the problem with you 0.6.0
installation. To do so, you can :
- copy the .dll files from the GTK installation directory (c:\program
Files\GTK2-Runtime\bin by default) into the grisbi installation directory;
- or download a fresh copy of GTK
(http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/gtk+/2.16/gtk+_2.16.6-1_win32.zip),
and copy all the .dll files from the bin directory of the archive into you
grisbi installation directory;
- or add the directory that contains the .dll files of your GTK installation to
your PATH.
Any of the given possiblities should achieve the same result. If one of them
doesn't fix the problem, try another one.
If, as on the screenshot you added, a file is missing, and you choose the 1st or
second option, try locating the file on your disk (in the GTK install directory)
and copying it into the grisbi installation directory.
In any case, please post the result in this ticket, so that I can act upon it.
Regards,
Will

Working solution was copying .dll files
FROM C:\Program Files\GTK2-Runtime\lib TO C:\Program Files\Grisbi
(In my case C:\Program Files\GTK2-Runtime\bin included only .exe -files.)
Thank you very much for the quick response - I try to be more careful next time.

The Grisbi installer now ships all the GTK dlls necessary to Grisbi. These files
are extracted into the Grisbi directory.
Problem is not relevant anymmore
